Old Thingamajig -sold

oil on canvas panel 8x6 inches
Out at the Galleano Winery today this red thingy caught my eye. The big eucalyptus cast an interesting shadow on the window and side of the barn. The wiggly wires and slight lean seemed to add something too. I had never tried to paint eucalyptus bark before...it has so many subtle colors it could be a painting in itself! So today I painted something, but I don't know what it is!

  3. Karen, I was thinking that today would be perfect for another visit to the Galleano Winery! In talking with the owner he mentioned that I should look at the other two gas pumps. The "thingamajig" you painted was a gas pump. The handle had to pumped and there was a gauge to indicated the number of gallons. Then that amount went into the gas tank with the hose(that was no longer there). Now you have a "pair" of gas pump paintings!!!
Your eucalyptus leaves are great too.
