Monet's Light

Monet's Light  oil 12x12 inches
Purchase info here.

In 2015 we enjoyed our first trip to Europe.  We spent 14 days in Paris, and one day traveled by train to Giverny and Monet's home and gardens.  It was magical!  I loved how the light streamed into his dining room that day. Finally I painted from my photo reference this many years later.  What a wonderful memory.  This painting is much more beautiful in person.  If you purchase, your satisfaction is guaranteed.  Check my return policy by clicking on the link.

Bedside Camellias

oil 12x12 inches Purchase info here. I've always admired paintings of beds with the sheets turned down. How good it feels to get under those covers when I'm good and tired! In this painting, which I painted in the corner of my bedroom, I set out to contrast the sparkle of glass with the soft light and sheets. IN OTHER NEWS: ADVANCED WORKSHOP GLASS AND FLOWERS has been changed to JUNE 1-2. Open to oil painters who have taken my basic workshop, "Paint The Lively Still Life." Email me for more info: karenwernerart@gmail.com The BALBOA ARTWALK IS COMING UP ON MAY 19! I'll be in my usual spot along the seawall near Pearl St. and the fuel dock. Park in the big parking lot near the pier, take the ferry across, and to find me turn left when you step off the ferry. Peanuts & Coke

oil 10x8 inches Purchase info here. Heroes Bar & Grill is our go-to restaurant in nearby Claremont. I couldn't resist the light shining through my husband's Coke. Painted from my photo reference. I taught a workshop this last weekend to a very lively bunch! We had so much fun that I forgot to take pictures. I love teaching, and I'm very grateful to everyone who signs up and travels from other parts of Southern California to study with me. So if you've taken a workshop with me, THANK YOU! In The Entryway

oil 12x9 inches not for sale magnify This is an interior I've wanted to paint for a long time. We are not fancy enough to call it a foyer. In the morning, light streams in through a long narrow window beside our front door. So it's about the light, but... That's my grandmother's table from Arkansas. I remember it covered with homemade pies. The angel figurine was my mother's. And on the far right is Paula. Yes, the plant is named Paula. I adopted her from a couple moving to Connecticut years ago. They didn't want to move her, but at least they gave her a name. My, how she has grown. And oh, look! Who's that in the mirror???

Melanie's Art Room

oil 12x9 inches magnify Melanie lives in the high desert in a barn converted into a house. Now it's an art cottage oozing with creativity and joy. On Wednesday a few of us drove up for an art day together. I could have painted in any room because there was eye candy everywhere. This is the doorway into her art room. I especially loved the light coming through the blinds straight back, and the painted concrete floor. She let her little grandsons paint it with her. Out in her flower beds lie small rocks painted in bright colors. Prayer rocks, each with the name of a friend or relative. What a fun and inspiring day! Thanks, Melanie!
