Red, White & Bluebird SOLD

oil on canvas panel 6x6 inches

I'm sure the bird is playing some kind of game with the strawberry, but I didn't hear a thing.

I placed this grocery store bunch next to the north facing window in my new space. Thought I'd try painting by natural light indoors. I liked the red and white flowers against the neutral walls behind. Usually florals tend to be high key paintings, so perhaps this is an unconventional approach, but there's something about it I like. It looks better in person...the red violet flowers are really beautiful...not blackish! I don't know what my camera does to my darks!

Shelly's Flowers-sold

oil on linen panel 8x8 inches
SOLD
Recently my beautiful daughter, granddaughter and I attended a belated Mothers' Day event at her church. My daughter won this simple little centerpiece which she gave to me so I could paint it. I'm quite happy with the color scheme, the bold red daisy, and the way the light is coming through the water. I also like the looseness, which I attribute to having a pretty bad headache...I think the headache helped!

Last evening I finished a nice little painting along the red and green theme again. I intended to post it tonight, but realized I forgot to photograph it today while it was still light out! I went out to Chino Hills State Park this afternoon and did a little study of a shack. So the red/green painting and shack painting will be posted soon. This is one I did a few days ago. I'm still playing with the Munsell color wheel here...the complement of red being a warm blue rather than green. It's kinda refreshing! I hope you like it.
