You would think I'm a big wine drinker, but no.  I love painting wine bottles.  Here's a hunk of fisherman's bread from Crab Cooker.  It's about 7 or 8 years old.  Age doesn't matter when you're posing for a painting.  I do enjoy a good dense piece of bread with a nice glass of Cabernet.

oil 9x12 inches not for sale This may be one of my favorite paintings because of its content. I started reading that little brown Bible when I was sixteen. It has sentimental value and the best concordance too. I stuck my neck out putting in a picture of Jesus. I thought it might look cheesy, but being old and mounted on wood, I just might be able to pull it off. I think it fits with the feel of the work, but more importantly, it's crucial to the content. Without explaining away the piece, I'll just say I was thinking about all the scriptures in the Gospel of John linking Jesus, The Bread, The Vine and the Word of God.

Okay, I confess. I like cheap wine 'cause the labels have cool designs. This set up was a playground of color for me. Maybe it's a little over the top? The accountant's comment was "Wow, that really catches your eye." (Hmmm.....? ) The red grapes are a virtual rainbow of colors and the photo just doesn't do them justice. The hunk of bread is leftover from Crab Cooker (So Cal people, you know what I'm talkin' about! Yum!) I found out you can keep painting stale bread and it looks just like fresh bread. Handy to know.
