Slide Rock

I painted this 12x9 in the morning and had to stop abruptly as the thunderstorms and freezing rain hit. I would have made quite a few changes to it, but it was really starting to come down as I quickly packed up. This area is so beautiful, and in the summertime folks slide down the stream and swim in the pools. Maybe I'll work on it more from photos I took. I did use my familiar palette and had a peaceful enjoyable time.

  1. What an adventure! Freezing rain?
This is a lovely painting as it is, Karen. I like the misty grays in the background. I understand about the familiar palette. I have strange tubes of colors I never use from workshops I've taken in the past.

  2. I think it has many qualities as it stands. It would be interesting to see what changes you would have been satisfied with, by painting another from photographs, and then show them side by side.

  3. Ken, I think you have a great idea there. I may just do that! I very much dislike painting on top of a dry or partially dry painting. Thanks!

  4. nicely done and again...thanks for the heads up on the weather!
