Pea Pods & Peppers

oil on canvas panel 6x6 inches
Color is the attraction here. Deliberate strokes and some soft edges give it the fresh look I was hoping for. I love the yellow-orange and red against the thalo blue. In the foreground I warmed up the thalo and white with some cad yellow medium.

  1. Love this composition! And the underpainting peeking through.

  2. I really like this piece Karen. All the warm colors against the cool yellow-blue background and the light is just great.

  3. Love your work Karen, I just came across your blog through Linda Hunt's. I will be visiting again!

  4. Wonderful painting! Great job on capturing the colors and values. And it's such an interesring composition with so much in the upper right quadrant. It really works!

Peppers have defeated me so far. I need to give it another go-round.

  5. That soft blue green is a fantastic background color for the reds and oranges of the peppers! Really great!!

  6. I saw a basket of peppers drying in someone;s home yesterday and thought of you.....I guess this is why. I like the pepper paintings.
