Sprinkled On Blue SOLD

oil on canvas panel 6x6 inches

National Donut Day continued over the weekend at our house. Interestingly, Hubby was not impressed with this painting. He said it lacked a hole, and "everybody knows donuts have holes." The hole, small to begin with was full of frosting. This explanation did not satisfy. He said I should have made one up even though I couldn't see one. Humpf. Accountants. I paint 'em as I see 'em. I don't paint what "everybody knows". I still love him.

  1. First off, this post is THE best. Sounds just like my husband, Dave...golf pro/major supporter but sometimes...just makes me smile with an artistic thought. I think the painting is wonderful BECAUSE you painted what you saw... and it is very believable. You are super talented and he is lucky to have you:)

  2. I see the hole! Sprinkles are difficult and you did a smashing job Karen.
Funny the Contessa and I didn't continue our Donut War during the celebration - we were lagging.

  3. I am very happy to have married a left brained banker. Things I could not figure out with him.
I could tell it was a doughnut. Love the way you left the cloth surrounding the beautiful, busy doughnut painted so loosely. Works perfectly.

  4. Of course you still love him! And of course, as an accountant he couldn't see that hole, which is as plain as the nose on your face!! I love it, and I'm a donut girl....
