Cherries, Berries & Greens SOLD

oil on canvas panel 6x6 inches

For this painting I cut some creeping fig off a fence in our backyard. The deep reds and blues looked great on the soft green surface, but the green on green proved challenging. I stuck with it and I'm very happy with the result.

  5. A glowing painting...the colors are just right. And your eye just focuses on that front blueberry, then radiates throughout the painting.

  6. love this composition. I have a lot to say about that fig ivy (not the painting but the size of the leaves), but I'm going to keep it to myself. The painting is just stunning.

  7. Thanks everyone for your comments! Suzanne, my creeping fig started out with small leaves, but as it grew (now covering our property line in the back on two sides!) the leaves have gotten even bigger than these I clipped! I'm pretty sure one of these plants could envelope an entire house.

  8. You must be brutal and chop the thing back to tiny leaves. I am a gardener pretending to be a painter. The crazy monster fig ivy will put on fig-shaped fruit. It can and will ruin a good paint job, destroy window frames, work it's way into the attic. It will actually harbor pesky little animals of the rodent variety. Eeeek! You can see why I said what I did about the size of leaves.
Let me comment again on the painting, it is just beautiful. Of all the elements, I think it is your clean colors which makes it so lively and glorious.
