Peachy Bouquet

oil on canvas panel 10x10 inches
Trader Joe's had these alstromerias for a good price. Couldn't resist all that yummy color! I painted this one in two sessions. For me, the challenge of flowers is to get enough detail in order to capture the character of the particular flower type, but with an economy of brushstrokes and no fussing. I'm really happy with this one.

  2. I'd be happy too, if I'd painted this one! Great brush strokes on the petals. And I like the addition of the fruit. It adds the needed weight to the bottom of the painting. Very nice!

  4. This might be a favorite for me! Gorgeous color- love the added fruit at bottom to pull those gorgeous colors even more. Great job on just enough cropping to be dynamic! Keeper for sure:)

  6. So beautiful!! I love the color and energy of this painting. It's very dramatic also, just lovely. I was thrilled to have company over this passed weekend. I bought several bouquets of flowers, I felt justified since people were coming over. I got lots of good reference photos.

  7. I like this one, and my favorite part, believe it or not, is the cast shadow on the front lemon!
