Sometimes it's difficult to find sunflowers that are not drooping their heads. I picked these up at the same farmer's market where I got the tomatillos. Turns out the orange one had been dyed, as the water in the vase turned pink. Pretty, but kinda unnatural. I was going for drama with the dark brown drapery. Let me tell you, there is a lot of paint on this panel! Laying it on thick in the focal areas was a lot of fun. For once I was "painting like a rich person" as they say.
The painting turned out just lovely!
ReplyDeleteI like the way you have them looking up. I have not painted sunflowers yet and did not know that they might droop. Wonderful colors and really like the brushwork.
