oil on canvas panel 8x6 inches
This one may be more about the jar than the flowers. I don't know. I like the little fallen bits the best. Painted after 12 days of almost no painting, I felt awkward. Pretty much always I paint the objects first and then the surface and background. On this one I wiped out the surface and backgound and did a do-over. You would think that if one can paint flowers, leaves and a jar, the flat surface and background would be easy....but noooooo! I don't get that. Keeps me humble.
Karen, I love your paintings, they are so fresh! You make every day subjects looking special and lively. :)
ReplyDeleteKaren it's a lovely piece. And those backgrounds can be the biggest pain. Sometimes, I'll paint the thing I think will be the easiest first just because of that reason.
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this painting...the jar, flowers, colors, even the background which I also find hard to paint. What beautiful flowers! What kind are they?
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your kind comments. Carol, these are lantana. It's a huge bush about 6x6 feet. It came from my neighbor's yard, under the ground and into mine and became a monster! The hummers and butterflies love it. I've painted it several times. If you want to see, just go to labels and click on lantana.
ReplyDeleteI love this painting. The transparence of the jar, the colors , the harmony ! It's a good job! Congratulations
ReplyDeleteI recognized the lantana from the fallen bits. Such a common characteristic. The jar, flowers and all are great. 12 days is a long time and I am glad you are back at it!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. The brushwork is lovely, and the colour palette is soft and pleasing to my eyes.
ReplyDeleteYou may have been feeling awkward, but there aint a thing awkward about this painting, it sparkles!!
ReplyDeleteThis is eye candy! Thanks for sharing. Your final piece looks effortless.
